Upon your initial contact with us, we will have a telephone conversation about the project you have in mind. During this conversation we will ask what you would like to have done along with your budget for the project. A budget is how much you have to spend on the project whether that be available funds or a loan. To prepare for this initial conversation visit Money Talk/Project Budget under our Customer Toolbox section. We expect an honest budget number to be shared to determine the feasibility and reality of the project for everyone involved. If the project seems like a good fit, we will gather all the basic information and schedule an initial complimentary site visit typically within less than two weeks. The process here takes one of two routes.
Route One – The Straightforward Project
Route one is for straightforward project with no design work. This would be for things like windows, doors, siding, repairs or grab bar installation. One of our construction professionals will then visit the project site to gather information, measurements, etc. and discuss your options and budget. Ideally we would like to have key stakeholders and decision makers be present at the meeting so we all can meet and have a clear understanding of the project. After the meeting we will draft and provide you with a proposed construction agreement to complete the requested work. We would be happy to meet with you again to answer any questions. Route Two – Building or Remodeling Services
Route two is for building or renovation services requiring design work. This would be for projects like a kitchen, bathroom, addition, finished basement or new construction. Again, if the project seems like a good fit, a designer and/or construction professional will meet you at your project site for a complimentary meeting and site walk-through. It is expected that key stakeholders and decision makers be present at the meeting. This meeting will reflect a mutual in-person interview for us and the client. During this one hour meeting, we listen actively as we discuss your overall wants, needs and wish list for your project. We will evaluate your existing environment and determine if the comprehensive plan requires structural design, space design or a combination of both. Between the conversation and the evaluation we will define a project scope. With the new scope we will review your budget and further discuss the feasibility and reality of the project. Together, we review our planning and building process to ensure your project’s success. At the end of this meeting, we will come to a collaborative resolution on the reality of the project, if we are the right design build firm for your project and if we wish to proceed to project development.
